The State of Web to Print in 2026: What Our Data Shows

By Web to Print Guide Team March 2026 5 min read

When we set out to build the Web to Print Guide directory, we expected to find a fragmented market. What we did not expect was just how fragmented it would be, or how unevenly the industry is distributed across the globe.

After cataloging 157 companies across 37 countries and 7 regions, we now have one of the most complete snapshots of the web to print market available anywhere. Here is what the data tells us.

The market is overwhelmingly B2C

Of the 157 companies in our directory, 108 operate primarily in B2C web to print: consumer-facing platforms selling photo products, personalized gifts, custom apparel, business cards, and marketing materials. Just 31 are B2B-focused, building storefront software, brand portals, and procurement tools for commercial printers and enterprises. Another 20 are infrastructure providers: the MIS systems, workflow engines, color management tools, and APIs that power both sides.

This ratio matters. It tells us that the consumer-facing side of web to print is far more crowded, and far more competitive, than the B2B software market. For print businesses evaluating technology partners, the B2B vendor pool is smaller than it appears.

Europe leads, but the gap is closing

The regional breakdown reveals a market still centered on Europe and North America but rapidly expanding elsewhere:

Region Companies Share
Europe 39 24.5%
United States 34 21.4%
Asia-Pacific 27 17.0%
Middle East & Africa 17 10.7%
United Kingdom 17 10.7%
Latin America 13 8.2%
Global 12 7.5%

Europe and the US together account for nearly half of all cataloged companies. But the fastest-growing regions by new entrants are Asia-Pacific and the Middle East and Africa. Markets like India, Indonesia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria are producing web to print companies at a pace that suggests the industry’s center of gravity will shift within the decade.

Three countries dominate

At the country level, the concentration is stark:

  • United States: 37 companies, the single largest national market, led by Shutterfly, Vistaprint, Custom Ink, and a deep bench of POD and SaaS platforms
  • United Kingdom: 17 companies, punching above its weight relative to population, with a mix of B2B software (Vpress, Infigo) and consumer brands (Moo, Papier)
  • Germany: 15 companies, Europe’s print powerhouse, home to Flyeralarm, Wirmachendruck, and several CEWE group properties

After the top three, the next tier includes the Netherlands (9), India (9), Australia (8), and Japan (7): each with distinct market characteristics.

The infrastructure layer is thin

Only 20 of 157 companies, roughly 13%, operate as infrastructure providers. These are the companies building the plumbing: MIS systems, workflow automation, color management, prepress tools, and integration middleware.

This is a surprisingly thin layer given how many B2C and B2B platforms depend on it. Companies like Enfocus, CHILI publish, and Customers Canvas serve as critical infrastructure for dozens of storefronts and print shops, yet they are vastly outnumbered by the platforms they enable.

For investors and acquirers, this suggests infrastructure is both under-served and strategically valuable.

What the data does not tell us

Our directory captures what companies do and where they operate, but several important dimensions remain difficult to quantify:

Revenue. Most web to print companies are private. Where we include revenue estimates, they are clearly marked as estimates based on public filings, press reports, and industry benchmarks. We do not present estimates as facts.

Growth rates. Without reliable revenue time series, we cannot rank companies by growth. We can observe that newer companies (founded after 2015) are disproportionately concentrated in POD, API-first services, and emerging markets, which suggests where growth is happening, even if we cannot measure it precisely.

Market share. The web to print market is too fragmented and too diverse for meaningful market share calculations. A company that dominates photo books in Japan is not competing with a brand portal vendor in Germany. We resist the temptation to present a single ranking.

Five things to watch

Based on the patterns in our data, here are five developments we expect to shape the next 12 months:

1. B2B consolidation. With only 31 B2B vendors globally, the segment is ripe for consolidation. Expect acquisitions as larger players seek to expand geographically or add capabilities.

2. Infrastructure acquisitions. The thin infrastructure layer makes companies like CHILI publish, Enfocus, and Customers Canvas attractive acquisition targets for platforms wanting to own more of the stack.

3. Emerging market expansion. India, Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria, and the UAE are producing new web to print companies at an accelerating rate. The next major platform may not come from Europe or North America.

4. API-first as default. Newer companies almost universally offer API access. Older platforms are retrofitting APIs onto legacy architectures. Within two years, a web to print platform without a public API will be an outlier.

5. AI integration. Template generation, design assistance, product recommendations, and automated prepress are all areas where AI is being integrated into web to print workflows. Early implementations are live; broad adoption is coming.
